Q4 2020 Brazil Sandbox Gaming Apps Performance Review

As the year 2020 drew to a close, the sandbox gaming category saw interesting trends across the top applications in Brazil. Sensor Tower's data provides a snapshot of the performance of these leading apps during the fourth quarter.

Roblox, released by Roblox Corporation, maintained strong momentum with its weekly active users peaking at nearly 9.7M in the final week of December. Downloads reached a high of 439K in late October, while revenue saw a notable increase, rising to 343K USD in the last week of December.

Minecraft by Mojang also showcased a steady performance with downloads hovering around the 200K mark and active users at about 1.6M towards the end of December. The revenue for Minecraft showed a significant upsurge, concluding the quarter at 78K USD.

Lockwood Publishing's Avakin Life: 3D Avatar Creator saw its downloads and active users grow consistently, ending with 131K and 725K respectively. The app's revenue experienced growth, closing the quarter at nearly 39K USD.

IMVU: 3D Avatar Creator & Chat from IMVU Inc. witnessed a steady climb in downloads, reaching 35K by the end of December, and maintained an active user base around 370K. The app’s revenue remained relatively stable, ending the quarter at 14K USD.

Lastly, The Sims™ FreePlay by Electronic Arts showed a positive trend in downloads, peaking at 51K in the last week of December. The weekly active users for the game saw a slight increase, finishing at around 190K. Revenue for the app remained modest, with a peak at 5.6K USD in mid-December.
